From 1st August 2023, buses replace trains on ten regional railway lines. From 1st May 2024, bicycles can be transported on train replacement buses running on the following five lines (click on the lines to open the timetable):
- 38 Somogyszob–Nagyatád
- 47 Dombóvár–Komló
- 78b Balassagyarmat–Ipolytarnóc
- 89 Nyékládháza–Tiszaújváros
- 103 Karcag–Tiszafüred
Bicycles can be transported on a transport device mounted on the rear wall of the bus, up to 3 per service. Bicycles are loaded and unloaded by bus drivers. Bicycles may not be fitted with luggage, bicycle bags or bicycle boxes. No bicycles are allowed on the board of the buses (except for items not exceeding the hand luggage size limit and exceptions provided for in Section 9.4.2 of the MÁV-START Passenger Transport Operating Rules).
Bicycle racks mounted on the rear walls of buses may only be used to carry bicycles of a standard male or female frame design with a frame diameter of no more than 60 mm and weighing no more than 20 kg. Electric bicycles, specially designed bicycles (tandem, trailer, cargo bicycle, fatbike etc.), tricycles and other bicycles with frame designs not meeting the above conditions (e.g. recumbent bicycles, camping bicycles) are not allowed.
Bicycles are transported according to the rail fare: a bicycle ticket (or bicycle country pass) and a bicycle space reservation are required for transport.
Bicycles can only be transported on the train replacement bus with a pre-purchased bicycle ticket (or bicycle country pass) and a bicycle space reservation - purchased at a railway ticket office, from ticket machines, at jegy.mav.hu or from the MÁV app. Bicycle tickets and bicycle space reservations are not available at the bus drivers.
Most bus stops are accessible, but the design and availability of some bus stops do not allow bicycle transport. In some cases, a bus may stop at more than one stop in a settlement, but only one of these stops is suitable for bicycle transport. Click on the name of the line to view the map notice showing the stops that are suitable and available for bicycle transport and those that are not. - 38 Somogyszob–Nagyatád
- 47 Dombóvár–Komló
- Bicycles cannot be transported to and from Kaposszekcső on the replacement buses. Passenger trains between Dombóvár and Pécs are available.
- 78b Balassagyarmat–Ipolytarnóc
- In Balassagyarmat bicycles can be transported only at the Vasútállomás stop, service is not available at the Dózsa György u. stop.
- In Ludányhalászi bicycles can be transported at the Iskola stop, but not at the szociális otthon bus stop.
- In Nógrádszakál bicycles can be transported at the Madách u. 4. stop, but not at the autóbusz-váróterem stop.
- Due to the design of the bus stop with a departure or destination in Ráróspuszta bicycles cannot be transported on the bus and bicycle tickets cannot be purchased for this stop.
- 89 Nyékládháza–Tiszaújváros
- Due to the design of the bus stop with a departure or destination in Hejőkeresztúr bicycles cannot be transported on the bus and bicycle tickets cannot be purchased for this stop.
- In Sajószöged bicycles can be transported at the hejőbábai elágazás stop, but not at the községháza stop.
- 103 Karcag–Tiszafüred
- Due to the design of the bus stop with a departure or destination in Karcag-Vásártér (Karcag, Madarasi út 53. stop), bicycles cannot be transported on the bus and bicycle tickets cannot be purchased for this stop. Bicycle transport is available from Karcag, vasútállomás stop.
- Due to the design of the bus stop with a departure or destination in Pusztakettős bicycles cannot be transported on the bus and bicycle tickets cannot be purchased for this stop.
- Due to the design of the bus stop with a departure or destination in Tiszafüred-Gyártelep (Tiszafüred, posta stop), bicycles cannot be transported on the bus and bicycle tickets cannot be purchased for this stop. Bicycle transport is available from Tiszafüred, autóbuszállomás (vasútállomás) stop.
